Announcements

Dear Parents,

We’d like to give a huge heart felt thank you to those of you who have donated needed materials for our classroom. It can be challenging operating within a tight budget. Your contributions make a BIG difference! Thank you!!

Upcoming events/assignments dates:

Continue checking the website daily to make sure your child has written down all of their homework. Make sure they have a quiet place and a consistent time to complete their homework. Please remind them to check off homework as it is done and to put it directly in their backpacks so it won’t be forgotten the next day.

Make sure your child is eating breakfast each morning! Studies have proven that students do better academically when they eat breakfast before school.

W.I.N. time takes place in the mornings Monday through Thursday. Students review reading comprehension and fluency skills with other third grade students with similar ability levels for the first 45 minutes of the day before returning to their classroom.

The following gives you an idea of what we are focusing on in class currently:

Reading –
During our unit on money, students are encouraged to bring in anything from home they would like to share related to money or a story we read in the unit. It can be something we hang on our concept board or something they take back home immediately. One example would be money used in another country.

Grammar –
This week we are learning about usage of parentheses and periods.

Math -
In our current chapter, we are learning geometry! This includes plane figures; line segments, rays and angles; classifying triangles, spatial reasoning, congruent figures; sides, flips and turns; symmetry; perimeter; area; patterns.

Science –
We are studying Earth Science. For the next two weeks we are discussing seasons. A test will be given on Tuesday, January 24th.

Social Studies-
We are learning about Native Americans.

We are always in need of copy paper!! If you can donate a ream of paper that would be greatly appreciated! We are also in need of tape rolls to go on our tape dispenser in class as well as small sized sticky notes.
REMINDER: If your child comes home with a paper that has “Redo” written at the top, please have them redo it on a separate sheet of paper and staple it to the original test or assignment before turning it in.

Also, please make sure your child has an eraser or old sock in their desk at school for use with their white boards
FYI-
Every Friday your child will bring home all their corrected papers for the week and a weekly note ONLY if they had any behavior issues or missing work. Please sign the weekly note and return it no later than Tuesday.

All corrected papers that received a D or F grade can be redone and turned back in for a higher grade (no higher than a C). All you have to do is redo the paper on a seperate piece of binder paper, staple it to the original page and turn it in. If you have questions about this, please email or call me at school.

Every Friday is spiritwear day. If you don’t have a school spirit shirt and would like one, please see the PTA.

If you need to contact us, please email us at jiredell@egusd.net and jle@egusd.net or call the school at 686-1725.

Thanks for all your support!!
Mrs. Iredell and Mrs. Le
